FAQs
-
These workshops are for photographers who want stronger fundamentals and more control. If you are ready to create portraits that feel intentional, elevated, and repeatable, you are in the right place. You do not need a huge kit. You need clarity.
-
No. You just need to be comfortable using your camera in manual mode. I teach lighting in a way that makes it click, whether you are new to artificial light or you are ready to refine what you already know.
-
Yes. This is not a sit-and-watch workshop. You will photograph models, practice the setups, and get real-time feedback so you leave with confidence, not confusion.
-
We focus on practical setups you can recreate. Many demos are one-light or two-light so you learn how direction, distance, and modifier choice actually shape the image. The goal is mastery, not complexity.
-
Absolutely. Lighting is only half the story. I will teach you how to direct people with confidence, refine expression, and create portraits that feel grounded, powerful, and true to the subject.
-
Yes, depending on the workshop. We cover the parts that move the needle, like positioning, client experience, workflow, and how to build a premium process that does not burn you out.
-
This is Rooted and Refined. Fundamentals over trends. Taste over noise. We focus on intentional lighting and direction so your work looks elevated now and still holds up years from now.
-
Workshops are held in curated studio spaces in the Nashville area unless otherwise noted. After you register, you will receive the full location details and what to expect.
-
Bring your camera, a portrait lens you love, charged batteries, memory cards, and a notebook if you want to track setups and diagrams. I will handle the rest.
-
Small groups on purpose. I keep attendance limited so you have room to shoot, ask questions, and get actual feedback.
-
Because seats are limited and planning is extensive, workshops are typically non-refundable. If you cannot attend, your spot may be transferable depending on the event.
-
Yes. If you want personalized support, private mentoring is available. It is built around your goals, your work, and the exact gaps you want to close.
-
Whatever will move you forward fastest. That can include studio lighting, live shooting with feedback, portfolio review, client workflow, positioning, pricing structure, or refining your offers. We choose the focus, then we get to work.
-
Both. In-person mentoring is best for hands-on lighting and shooting. Virtual mentoring is perfect for portfolio review, business strategy, and troubleshooting your process.
-
Workshops are structured and group-based. Mentoring is fully customized. It is the fastest way to get clarity when you want direct feedback and a plan built specifically for you.
