A portrait series by Tausha Dickinson
Untitled
Portraits
A study in being seen.
Presence
over polish.
Most portrait sessions ask you to perform. Smile wider. Pose thinner. Edit smoother. Untitled Portraits asks something different.
Black and white. No edits. No retouching. No filter between you and the lens.
The work is left untitled because it doesn't need to be explained. It is a record of who you were on the day you decided to be seen.
"What if the most powerful thing you could do is show up as you already are." From the studio notes

Tears, laughter, deep exhales. All welcome here.
Real words from real people who allowed themselves to be seen.
"I thought I'd feel exposed. Instead I felt free. Grounding, emotional, and unexpectedly empowering."
Sitter No. 014"I've never liked photos of myself. These made me cry, in the best way. I finally saw myself the way my people see me."
Sitter No. 022"Tausha doesn't just take photos. She creates space for truth. That space changed something in me."
Sitter No. 031For those who want to be seen beyond the surface.
For the person who lives with intention and values depth over display.
For those in a season of transition or reflection. For those who have everything on paper, and still want to feel met.
An artist, an executive, a mother, a human navigating change. The work doesn't ask what you do. It asks who you are when no one is watching.
You don't need to earn this moment. You just need to arrive.

I photograph people for how it makes them feel.
Nearly 20 years behind the lens, working in commercial, branding, and editorial portraiture. Untitled Portraits is the quietest project I've made.
For a long time I made refined, retouched, polished images I'm proud of. There was always something else underneath. A craving for work that was less performed and more honest.
This is not anti-beauty. It is a different definition of it. One that makes room for softness, weight, age, story. One that feels like coming home to yourself.

Specific.
Spare.
Every detail of Untitled Portraits is intentional. Less to think about, more room to be present.
