Kix Brooks // Champions for Children Gala
Portraits of Legacy and Giving Back
The Champions for Children gala at Ascend Amphitheater was a night that truly moved me. It brought together some of Nashville’s most generous hearts to support the incredible work happening at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The energy was electric, the purpose was powerful, and the spotlight was on country music legend Kix Brooks, who was honored for over 20 years of giving back to the hospital. From funding capital campaigns to showing up for families time and again, his impact has helped shape the future of children’s healthcare right here in our community.
I had the honor of creating a portrait experience backstage for the event’s VIPs. My setup was tucked just behind the stage at Ascend, where I photographed Kix Brooks, Brothers Osborne, and other guests as they arrived to celebrate and perform. I wanted the portraits to feel elevated and intentional while still capturing the spirit of the night. It was one of those shoots where the meaning behind the moment carries into every frame. Documenting this level of heart and legacy is what fuels my work and reminds me how powerful photography can be when it’s tied to purpose.
